November 4, 2018

I am sharing my 10 Best Austin Beer Gardens & Breweries that I have loved these past few years in Austin! I’m no beer expert by any means, but I’ve become a huge avid beer fan and love finding my new favorite breweries in Austin! And I believe at this point I’ve visited almost every one of the Austin beer gardens and breweries I could find (probably at least 95% of them at least).

Central Machine Works Brewing

Location // East Austin

About Central Machine Works
This is probably the brewery I recommend most to friends because of the space! Central Machine Works has a HUGE outdoor patio perfect for groups of friends. They’ve also got a ton of parking space, extensive indoor areas, food options, cocktails on draft, and often showcase live music and movie nights. It’s the perfect addition to the neighborhood, and very beloved! You can find me here pretty much once a week.

Must Try Beer
The Mosaic IPA and Citra Pale Ale are two of my favorites! They also have a Midwest Draft that’s unique, but not gonna lie it isn’t my favorite of theirs.

Why We Love It:
Spacious-ness: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ with plenty of tables
Parking Lot: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Parking lot + street parking available
Dog Friendly: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Dogs allowed inside + outside
Kid Friendly: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Pretty kid friendly, lots of space for kiddos
Food Available: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Delicious pizza and burgers available!
Beer Quality: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Solid beer, my favorite being the Citra Pale Ale and Mosaic!

Vista Brewing

Location // Driftwood, Texas (west of Austin)

About Vista Brewing
Vista brewing is definitely one of my FAVORITE Hill Country breweries (and featured in my Guide to Dripping Springs, Texas) for SO many reasons. Firstly, the beer is delicious. Obviously would not make the cut otherwise. But on top of that, their outdoor space is HUGEEEE and BEAUTIFUL. They have tons of acreage and walking trails throughout it, playgrounds for the kiddos, multiple picnic tables and lawn chairs, live music often, and their indoor space is stunning too.

It’s just ALWAYS a treat being out here and a delight. I would highly recommend if you want a less than busy brewery space!!!

Must Try Beers
Middle Trinity is my favorite, but they have constantly rotating seasonal options I recommend highly!

Why We Love It:
Spacious-ness: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ SO much SPACE!
Parking Lot: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Parking lot with no lack of space
Dog Friendly: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Dogs allowed outdoors, very dog friendly outside
Kid Friendly: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Open playground for kiddos

About
Meanwhile popped up right when the pandemic was kicking off, and INSTANTLY became a favorite in Austin! Their delicious wide range of beers that everyone loved, their huge outdoor space for groups, their delicious literal Austin award-winning food trucks, their dog-friendly environment, and more. Much like Central Machine Works, it’s a go-to favorite for friends of mine!

They’re constantly rotating their beers so these might not be on the list right now, but Disco in the Panic Room and Tender Robot are the two beers I always get there! And even often get them when I can find them on a beer list at a restaurant or bar!

Dog Friendly: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Dogs allowed outdoors, very dog friendly

Hold Out Brewing

Location // Clarksville Austin, Near Downtown

About
Owned by the same group as Better Half! Hold Out brewing actually opened right in the middle of COVID, and was SUCH a success. And I 100% see why. The beers are delicious with a wide range of types for any beer lover, and their $5-$7 are seriously INCREDIBLE. Like they have no right being that good and that cheap. The 50/50 burger is a godsend.

Note they are ONLY doing reservations and no walk-ins so make sure to reserve a table!!!

Must Try Beer
The Hazy Television and the 50/50 burger are both a MUST! I also have S’mores Again Texan as one of my favorite beers ever but unsure if they still have it there. If so, TRY IT!

Why We Love It:
Spacious-ness: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Tables inside and outside! Usually can get pretty busy though
Parking Lot: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Parking lot + street parking available
Dog Friendly: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Dogs allowed outdoors on leash
Kid Friendly: ⭐️⭐️ Kids definitely allowed, but not as kid friendly
Food Available: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Delicious burgers here, the 50/50 is my favorite!
Beer Quality: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Award winning beer here!!

I’m not a fan of beer but my dad would be delighted if he hears about this. Also, my younger sister and brother-in-law is in Texas, I’ll pass along this breweries recommendation to them.

Nice – I’d throw in a big vote for Oddwood Ales. I think they have some of the best brews in town these days! Also, if you can get Electric Jellyfish at Pinthouse, do it.
