Fresa’s South First

South First // $$ // Tex Mex Style with Chicken

Fresa’s is Denver’s favorite restaurant in Austin for a reason! The food is absolutely delicious, and someone in your party has to order the chicken because it is truly a feast. Personally, I’m a big fan of their tacos and margaritas so that’s my go-to order. But either way, Fresa’s has something for everyone. PLUS their gorgeous outdoor lit patio makes for a beautiful setting!

Bonus is that the outdoor space here means larger parties can fit pretty easily without feeling cramped up. And they have a parking lot!

Happy Hour // Weekdays 3pm-6pm with $2 off all Aguas Frescas, Botanas, Beer, Wine & Margaritas

Il Brutto

East Austin // $$$ // Italian Brunch and Dinner

This is one of my go-to dinner and happy hour spots when we have a girl’s happy hour or celebration meal of any form! It’s perfect for parties under 12, though they also have a huge private dining area to accommodate larger groups inside. But normally we just grab a large round table on their patio and it’s perfect!

I’m a sucker for their happy hour because 1/2 off is just too good (and their cocktails are also delicious). So it makes it great for those looking for affordable yet also adorable. And the pizza is amazing for sharing if you want to not have everyone order their own meals and just do lots of pizza to share!

Happy Hour // Daily 4pm – 6pm with 1/2 entire drink menu & bottles

Banger’s Brunch

Rainey Street // $$ // German Beer Garden

If you want to go all out for Brunch with your group, this is the place to do it. I will preface this with you need to be prepared to either

  1. Arrive by 10am at the absolute latest OR
  2. Be ready and comfortable with at least a 1 hour wait (don’t worry you can walk around while you wait)

It’s just that popular and there’s a reason! Bangers has HUGE outdoor and indoor tables to accommodate larger parties, and it’s flexible so you can walk around and move and not feel like you’re at a fancy sit-down dinner. Plus afterward (or before while you wait) you can wander Rainey Street and enjoy the adorable bars it has.

When you’re at Banger’s you’ll enjoy their classic german style brunch featuring lots of brats, and you absolutely have to order the manmosa to get the full Austin experience!

Salty Sow

East Austin off Manor // $$$ // Southern Comfort

Salty Sow has been a favorite of mine since about 2015 when I could have cocktails for the first time. It’s got AMAZING and delicious food for affordable prices, and their cocktails are always a delight too. It’s a go-to spot for birthday dinners and happy hours since they also have private rooms available for larger parties. Plus, an outdoor seating area if you would rather be outside. If you want a nice sit-down meal for your group, this is a great option!

Happy Hour // Daily 4pm – 6pm with $2 Off Beer and Cocktails, $5 Snacks

La Condesa

Downtown Austin // $$$ // Tex Mex

Forever my post-work happy hour go-to because of the $5 margaritas that are large enough that your limit needs to be two! La Condesa is a gorgeous restaurant right in the heart of Downtown Austin with delicious food and drinks you’ll love. Plus, they have plenty of upstairs and downstairs space for larger parties to reserve and stay separated from the main restaurant!

Happy Hour // Wednesday – Saturday 4pm – 6pm and Sundays from 11am – 3pm with $2 tacos and 1/2 off all drinks

Grizzelda’s Austin

East Austin // $$$ // Tex Mex

Another perfect restaurant for larger group dining celebrations! Grizzelda’s was basically made for it, with their larger tables that can be pushed together and their shareable menu perfect for bigger groups to share meals and try everything. Plus, the space itself was made to be photographed!

Happy Hour // All Night Wednesday, 5-6 Thursday-Friday with $5 fro-mo, grizz mizz, skinny paloma, route 44, and apps

Tillery Kitchen

East Austin // $$$ // American Style Kitchen

First of all, the waterside patio here is simply unbelievable. It’s a stunning view, especially around sunset, and makes you feel like you are in a little forest oasis within Austin. Plus, their happy hour $5 deals are great to pair with a view like this. One of my favorite things about it is their couch space where you can fit a larger group for bites and drinks! It’s perfect and feels cozy and secluded.

The only two downsides I do want to call out are the rough parking situation and the fact that the food really is meh, so maybe not the top dinner spot!

Happy Hour // Wed-Thu 5pm – 7pm & Fri-Sun 3pm – 6pm with $1 off plates, $3 off cocktails, $5 wines and beers

Jacobys Restaurant & Mercantile

East Austin // $$$ // American Style

I’ve become a big fan of Jacoby’s happy hour during the pandemic! The happy hour deal is great since it includes food, and their cocktails are so affordable and so on point. Plus, how can you resist the patio happy hour lake view in Austin! It’s also a great dinner spot so you can enjoy a quality meal.

Only downside to note is the lack of parking, you will end up finding street parking but it isn’t the easiest.

Happy Hour // All Night Wednesday, 5-6 Thursday-Friday with $5 Apps, $10 Burgers And Fries, $5 Drafts, Old Fashioneds, Jalapeno Business & Rose

Hanks Cafe

North Austin // $$ // Cafe Style Menu

The cutest outdoor patio in Austin for happy hour! Love visiting Hanks when I’m looking for a drink with my meal with my girls. They have tons of parking, so no issues for anyone there, and a shaded patio so you can stay cool while enjoying a cocktail. With having such a HUGE patio, you’re golden in finding a space for your group to sit down!

Happy Hour // Daily 3pm – 6:30pm with $6 Frozen Cocktails, $6 Tap Wine, $3 Off Apps and Half Off Burgers on Mondays

Eberly Austin

South Lamar // $$$ // American Style Food

While not your typical string lights & cozy tables & Italian food kind of romantic, I think Eberly has a whole different romantic charm worth noting! Their interior is absolutely stunning, featuring multiple old New York style bars, eclectic seating, and a beautiful greenhouse dining area. If you’re looking for the perfect date restaurant that is a little less over the top romantic and more unique, Eberly is a MUST.

Also the restaurant is HUGE so as long as you make the reservation in advance, you’ll definitely be able to get a table for your large group!

Loro Eats

South Lamar // $$ // Asian Fusion with BBQ

Love this Tex-Asian (collab by Franklins & Uchi) with amazing bites and killer cocktails (the frozen gin and tonic is worth it). Their outdoor patio with lights is perfect for spending time with your boo under the stars. It’s also a space with larger outdoor tables you can fit a group in, and makes for an adorable photo opp! I will say call ahead to make sure they aren’t packed to the brim. But even if they are, you can hang out outside on the patio with a drink while you wait.

Happy Hour // Weekdays 2pm-5pm with $5 Slushies, $5 Cocktails, $4 Beers, $4 Wines by the Glass, and $7-$8 Bites (until they’re gone)

Central Machine Works

Eats Austin // $$ // Burgers & Pizza

One of my favorite breweries in Austin! This gorgeous space is newer to the city but already a favorite with its the stunning interior, expansive outdoor patio, live music, great happy hour, and wide range of cocktails, beer, and food options. It’s become a must-stop austin restaurant for large groups and often will have a wait on weekends. But no worries, even with a wait you can grab a beer and walk around.

One reason I always recommend it for groups is because it’s HUGE. There are SO MANY tables and so much space for large parties. If you have a wedding and want a space for your guests to meet up the day before, this is going to be my recommendation. Plus they do have pizzas and burgers so while not the fanciest dinner, it’s something for everyone!
